Standard Goldendoodles

Large, Health-Tested Standard Goldendoodles Raised for Family,

Service, Therapy, Sporting & Active Homes

At Oregon's Legendary Goldendoodles, our Standard Goldendoodles are intentionally bred for health, temperament, trainability, and long-term success.

While many Goldendoodle programs have shifted toward producing smaller dogs, we continue to focus on preserving the size, structure, versatility, and family-friendly temperament that originally made Standard Goldendoodles so popular.

Our Standard Goldendoodles typically mature between 50 and 85+ pounds, depending on the parents and individual puppy.

Many families contact us specifically because they are searching for a larger Standard Goldendoodle and are finding that true Standards have become increasingly difficult to locate.

Whether you're looking for a family companion, adventure partner, therapy dog prospect, service dog candidate, sporting companion, or hunting partner, our goal is to produce dogs capable of thriving in a wide variety of homes and lifestyles.

Why Large Standard Goldendoodles Are Becoming Harder To Find

One of the most common things we hear from families is:

"We had a hard time finding a breeder producing true Standard Goldendoodles."

Over the past decade, many breeding programs have shifted toward Mini and Medium Goldendoodles as consumer demand for smaller dogs increased.

As a result, many dogs marketed as Standard Goldendoodles today mature closer to 40–50 pounds.

In our program, puppies expected to mature under 50 pounds are generally classified as Medium Goldendoodles.

We intentionally maintain larger Standard lines because many families continue to seek:

  • Larger companions

  • Traditional Standard Goldendoodle size

  • Athletic family dogs

  • Outdoor adventure partners

  • Service dog prospects

  • Therapy dog prospects

  • Sporting companions

  • Hunting companions

For many families, the larger size, substantial structure, and versatility of a true Standard Goldendoodle remain highly desirable.

Ultra Goldendoodles

In addition to traditional Standard Goldendoodles, our program intentionally produces Ultra Goldendoodles—dogs bred to retain a higher percentage of Golden Retriever influence while benefiting from carefully selected Poodle genetics.

Many families love the temperament, appearance, and companionship qualities of the Golden Retriever but are concerned about the heavy shedding that often comes with the breed. Our Ultra Goldendoodle lines are designed to preserve many of the characteristics people love about Golden Retrievers while improving coat traits and reducing shedding potential.

Families seeking Ultra Goldendoodles are often looking for:

  • The friendly, people-oriented temperament of a Golden Retriever

  • A calmer, family-focused companion

  • The softer expression and appearance associated with Golden Retrievers

  • A stockier build and substantial structure

  • Strong trainability and willingness to work with people

  • A dog that closely resembles a Golden Retriever while producing significantly less shedding

Because we intentionally select for a higher percentage of Golden Retriever genetics in these lines, many of our Ultra Goldendoodles retain the look, feel, and temperament that originally made Goldendoodles so popular.

Depending on the pairing, we have produced everything from Golden Retriever-like coats that shed similarly to a Golden Retriever to soft, wavy-coated Ultra Goldendoodles with very minimal shedding. Through genetic testing and careful breeding decisions, we are often able to provide families with realistic expectations regarding coat type and shedding potential.

For many families, an Ultra Goldendoodle represents the best of both worlds—a dog that maintains much of the appearance, structure, and temperament of a Golden Retriever while offering a coat that may shed substantially less.

Our goal is to produce healthier puppies while helping families make informed decisions when selecting a breeder.

Standard Goldendoodle Colors & Patterns

One of the things families love most about Standard Goldendoodles is the incredible variety of colors and patterns available.

While many people are familiar with traditional apricot and cream Goldendoodles, our program has produced puppies in a wide range of colors and patterns, including:

  • Apricot

  • Cream

  • Golden

  • Black

  • Chocolate

  • Silver

  • Phantom

  • Parti

  • Sable

  • Brindle

  • Merle

Color does not determine temperament, intelligence, or trainability, but many families enjoy learning about the unique appearance and genetics behind different coat colors and patterns.

Understanding Coat Types & Shedding

One of the unique aspects of our program is the variety of coat types we intentionally produce.

Depending on the pairing, our puppies may range from:

  • Unfurnished coats that shed similarly to a Golden Retriever

  • Wavy furnished coats with varying levels of shedding

  • Ultra Goldendoodles with very low-shedding coats while retaining many Golden Retriever characteristics

  • Fully furnished curly coats that are often the most allergy-friendly and lowest shedding

Rather than making broad claims that all Goldendoodles are "hypoallergenic" or "non-shedding," we believe families deserve accurate information about what to realistically expect.

Coat type, furnishings, curl, and shedding are influenced by genetics. Because we genetically test our breeding dogs and understand how these traits are inherited, we can often provide much more accurate expectations regarding coat characteristics than simply looking at a puppy's appearance.

This allows us to produce and identify a wide range of coat types, from Golden Retriever-like coats to highly furnished, low-shedding curly coats.

For families seeking a specific coat type, we are happy to discuss the genetics behind individual litters and what we expect puppies to inherit.

Where Our Puppies Live

Our puppies have joined families throughout:

  • Oregon

  • Washington

  • California

  • Alaska

  • Hawaii

  • Arizona

  • Nevada

  • Idaho

  • Texas

  • Florida

  • And many other states across the country

Many of our out-of-state families specifically sought us out because they were struggling to find larger Standard Goldendoodles with the health testing, temperament focus, and structure they wanted.

  • Most mature between 50 and 85+ pounds

  • Ultra Goldendoodle is an informal term often used to describe Goldendoodles with a higher percentage of Golden Retriever ancestry. These dogs are often sought by families who love many Golden Retriever traits while still wanting the trainability and lower-shedding coat potential associated with Goldendoodles.

  • Yes. Depending on the pairing, we may produce black, apricot, cream, phantom, parti, sable, merle, and other color combinations.

  • Yes. They are known for their intelligence, trainability, affectionate nature, and ability to adapt to a wide variety of family lifestyles.

  • Absolutely. Many of our puppy families travel from Washington, California, and throughout the United States to work with our program.

  • Many Standard Goldendoodles possess traits that can make them excellent therapy dog candidates, including friendliness, trainability, social confidence, and adaptability. While therapy certification ultimately depends on the individual dog, training, and evaluation process, some puppies naturally demonstrate qualities that are highly desirable for therapy work.

  • Standard Goldendoodles can make excellent service dog candidates when they possess the temperament, health, structure, and trainability required for the specific type of work being performed.

Their intelligence, desire to work with people, adaptability, and trainability have made them popular choices for a variety of service roles, including psychiatric service work, autism support, medical alert tasks, mobility-related assistance, and other forms of disability support.

Because our program places a strong emphasis on temperament, confidence, resilience, human focus, and sound structure, many families specifically seek our larger Standard Goldendoodles for service dog training goals.

However, not every puppy will be suitable for service work. Successful service dogs require the right combination of temperament, health, environmental stability, and training. For this reason, we evaluate each puppy as an individual and are happy to discuss which puppies may be the strongest candidates for advanced training and working roles.

  • For some handlers, a larger Standard Goldendoodle may be an excellent mobility service dog candidate. Their size, athleticism, trainability, and people-oriented nature can make them well suited for certain mobility-related tasks when paired with appropriate health testing, sound structure, and professional guidance.

Because mobility work places unique physical demands on a dog, we place significant value on health testing, structural soundness, and temperament when planning our breedings. Not every puppy will be suitable for mobility-related work, but some of our larger Standard Goldendoodle lines are intentionally bred with the size, substance, and temperament that many mobility-focused handlers seek.
