Planning Ahead Gives You the Best Opportunity

Many families begin searching for a Medium Goldendoodle months before they're ready to bring one home. Our planned litters allow you to learn about each breeding, follow the pregnancy, and reserve your place before puppy selections begin.

Joining a waitlist is about more than reserving a puppy—it's about finding the right one. We'll take the time to learn about your family, answer your questions, and recommend the pairing that best matches your goals, whether you're looking for a hiking companion, a first family dog, or a puppy with therapy or service dog potential.

Planning ahead also gives you the opportunity to follow your litter's journey from ultrasound and pregnancy updates through puppy birth, temperament testing, and selection day.

Current & Future Medium Goldendoodle Litters

At Oregon's Legendary Goldendoodles, we intentionally produce a limited number of Medium Goldendoodle litters each year. Rather than breeding on a set schedule, every pairing is planned with a specific purpose, focusing on temperament, health, structure, and long-term soundness.

Our Manhattan & Alastor litter is our only Medium Goldendoodle breeding for 2026, and only one puppy remains available. At this time, we do not have additional Medium Goldendoodle litters planned for the remainder of the year.

If a Medium Goldendoodle is the right fit for your family, we encourage you to inquire about our remaining puppy or join our waitlist to be among the first to hear about future breeding plans.

What to Expect From a Medium Goldendoodle

For many families, the Medium Goldendoodle offers the best of both worlds. They provide much of the athleticism, intelligence, and versatility of a Standard Goldendoodle in a size that's often easier to travel with, easier to manage, and well suited to a wide variety of homes and lifestyles.

At Oregon's Legendary Goldendoodles, every Medium Goldendoodle is purposefully bred from carefully selected Poodle and Golden Retriever foundation lines. Our breeding decisions prioritize temperament, structure, health, and long-term soundness above appearance or color, producing confident, trainable companions that thrive in real family homes.

Whether you're looking for an adventure partner, a family companion, or a puppy with therapy or service dog potential, our goal is to produce Medium Goldendoodles that are adaptable, people-focused, and enjoyable to live with for years to come.

Is a Medium Goldendoodle the Right Size?

Medium Goldendoodles from our program typically mature between 35 and 50 pounds, making them an excellent choice for families looking for a dog that's substantial enough for outdoor adventures but easier to manage than a larger Standard Goldendoodle.

Many of our Mediums inherit the calm, people-focused nature of the Golden Retriever while maintaining the intelligence, athleticism, and trainability of the Poodle. Their moderate size makes them equally comfortable joining you on a hiking trail, relaxing at your feet while you work, or accompanying you on everyday errands and family outings.

While size is often the first thing families notice, it's only one part of the decision. Energy level, confidence, temperament, and lifestyle compatibility are just as important. Our goal is to help you choose the puppy whose personality best fits your family—not simply the one that falls within a certain weight range.

Temperament: Why Families Love Medium Goldendoodles

One of the defining characteristics of the Medium Goldendoodle is its versatility. They're large enough to enjoy an active lifestyle yet compact enough to fit comfortably into many homes, making them a favorite for families seeking one dog that can do a little bit of everything.

Our breeding program emphasizes dogs that are:

  • Confident without being overwhelming

  • Friendly and people-focused

  • Highly trainable and eager to learn

  • Athletic, adaptable, and easy to live with

  • Well suited for active families, therapy work, and everyday companionship

Every puppy also completes a structured temperament evaluation before going home. Rather than matching puppies based solely on appearance, we help each family choose the puppy whose confidence, motivation, energy level, and personality best fit their goals and lifestyle.

Service & Therapy Dog Potential

Medium Goldendoodles are one of the most versatile sizes in our program. They combine the intelligence and trainability of the Poodle with the friendly, people-oriented nature of the Golden Retriever, creating dogs that excel as family companions while also showing strong potential for advanced training.

Their moderate size makes them well suited for many therapy roles, emotional support work, and select service dog placements. They are large enough to confidently accompany their handler through daily life while remaining manageable for travel, public access, and active households.

While no breeder can guarantee a service dog, our breeding program emphasizes confidence, resilience, engagement, and trainability. Puppies demonstrating exceptional potential are identified through our temperament evaluations and thoughtfully matched with families pursuing therapy or service work.

Coat Types & Grooming

Medium Goldendoodles can have straight, wavy, or curly coats, each with its own unique appearance and grooming needs. While every coat type has its own charm, there isn't a "best" coat—only the one that best fits your family's lifestyle and grooming preferences.

Whether you prefer the relaxed look of a loose wavy coat or the tighter curls often associated with lower maintenance between brushings, every Goldendoodle benefits from routine coat care. Regular brushing, professional grooming, nail trims, and ear cleaning all play an important role in keeping your dog healthy, comfortable, and looking its best.

Before your puppy goes home, we'll discuss the coat type you've chosen, what kind of grooming routine to expect, and how to set your puppy up for a lifetime of positive grooming experiences.

Colors You May See

While temperament, health, and structure always come first, many families are curious about the colors they may see in our Medium Goldendoodle litters.

Depending on the pairing, our program may produce beautiful shades of cream, apricot, red, black, chocolate, phantom, parti, and merle. Every planned breeding includes expected colors and coat types so families know what to anticipate before puppies arrive.

Rather than breeding specifically for color, we focus on producing healthy, well-rounded puppies with exceptional temperaments. Color is simply one of the many wonderful traits that makes every puppy unique.

Understanding Goldendoodle Generations

Terms like F1, F1b, Multigenerational, and Ultra Goldendoodle are often used when describing Goldendoodles, but those labels only tell part of the story.

While generations can influence coat genetics and shedding tendencies, they don't determine temperament, intelligence, health, or overall quality. Those qualities come from thoughtful breeding decisions, comprehensive health testing, and generations of carefully selected dogs.

Rather than chasing a particular generation, our focus is on producing Medium Goldendoodles that are predictable in temperament, structure, and long-term health.

Learn what Goldendoodle generations really mean and why they're only one piece of the puzzle.

Health Testing & Long-Term Soundness

Every Medium Goldendoodle breeding begins with carefully selected parents that have undergone comprehensive health testing appropriate for their breed. Orthopedic evaluations, genetic screening, and breed-specific health clearances help us make informed breeding decisions that support long-term health and soundness.

Health, however, is more than genetic testing alone. We also evaluate structure, movement, temperament, and trainability, because we believe a well-rounded companion should be healthy both physically and mentally.

Every planned breeding reflects our commitment to raising confident, capable dogs that will enrich the lives of their families for years to come.
