Available Adult Dogs

Looking for an Adult Goldendoodle?

While most of our placements involve puppies, we occasionally have young adult Goldendoodles, retired breeding dogs, guardian returns, or special placement opportunities available.

Adult dogs can be an excellent option for the right family.

Unlike puppies, adult dogs already have established personalities, known temperaments, completed basic training, and predictable adult size. Families are able to see exactly who the dog is today rather than guessing who they may become in the future.

Because adult placements are uncommon, this page may occasionally be empty. When opportunities become available, they will be listed here.

Why Consider an Adult Dog?

Many families initially contact us looking for a puppy.

However, adult dogs offer several advantages:

  • Potty training is already established.

  • Crate training is often complete.

  • Adult size is known.

  • Temperament and personality are established.

  • Basic obedience training may already be in place.

  • The puppy chewing, biting, and adolescent stages are already behind them.

For the right home, an adult dog can be a wonderful way to add a companion to the family.

Our Commitment to Every Dog We Produce

Our responsibility to our dogs does not end when they leave our home.

If a family can no longer keep one of our dogs, we ask that the dog be returned to us rather than being surrendered to a shelter or rehomed independently.

This allows us to evaluate the dog's needs, provide support when appropriate, and carefully select the next home.

As a result, some of the dogs featured here may be:

  • Young adult dogs seeking a new home

  • Retired breeding dogs

  • Guardian dogs whose circumstances have changed

  • Special placement opportunities

Each dog's situation is unique, and we strive to be transparent about their needs, strengths, and ideal placement.

Many adult dogs are actually easier to train because they have longer attention spans, more impulse control, and a greater ability to focus than young puppies.

Several adult dogs available through our program already have a foundation of obedience training and house manners.

For some families, skipping house training, puppy biting, chewing, and adolescence can be a significant benefit.

  • Sometimes.

One advantage of adopting an adult dog is that both strengths and challenges are often easier to identify.

We strive to be transparent about each dog's temperament, training, lifestyle needs, and ideal placement so families can make informed decisions.

  • Rarely.

One of the primary reasons we utilize our Guardian Home Program is so that our breeding dogs can remain with their permanent families throughout their lives rather than needing to be rehomed when they retire from our program.

As a result, retired breeding dogs are not typically available.

Most adult placement opportunities involve special circumstances such as a dog returning to our program, changes in a guardian family's situation, or other unique placement needs.
