Personality & Temperament

Doodad has a beautifully balanced temperament.

He enjoys people without demanding attention. He has enough confidence to investigate new experiences, enough curiosity to enjoy learning, and enough emotional stability to recover when life doesn’t go exactly as planned.

Throughout the evaluation, he consistently chose the evaluator over the environment. He repeatedly checked back in, looking for the next opportunity to work together.

One thing that really stood out was how thoughtfully he approached training. Rather than charging into every exercise, he often paused briefly, processed what was being asked, and then enthusiastically participated once he understood.

That isn’t hesitation. It’s cooperation.

He likes knowing why he’s doing something, and once he understands, he’s fully invested.

Much of that confidence begins long before families take their puppies home. Working Potential

While Doodad certainly has the qualities to enjoy advanced training, I actually think his greatest strength is something much simpler. He genuinely enjoys working with people.

His exceptional human focus, balanced confidence, and cooperative attitude would make him a wonderful candidate for advanced obedience, Rally, recreational scent work, trick training, or any activity that allows him to share experiences with his family.

He's not driven by intensity or independence. He's driven by partnership.

That makes training feel less like work and more like something the two of you get to enjoy together.

What I Loved

I loved how naturally cooperative Doodad was.

He never felt like a puppy who needed to be convinced to participate. Instead, he seemed happiest whenever he and the evaluator were working together.

Even his moderate energy contributed to that impression. He brought plenty of enthusiasm without becoming frantic, pushy, or overwhelming.

He's simply enjoyable to be around. The kind of puppy that quietly fits into whatever you're doing and makes it more fun.

One Thing I'd Continue Building

If Doodad were staying here, I'd continue building on the qualities he already offers naturally.

I'd reward every voluntary check-in.

I'd continue exposing him to new places and experiences to strengthen his already solid confidence.

I'd make training collaborative, giving him clear goals and allowing him to think through new challenges rather than rushing him.

Because he naturally enjoys working with people, I think he'll thrive when training feels like something the two of you accomplish together.

Living With Doodad

Life with Doodad feels easy to picture.

He's the kind of dog who enjoys being wherever his family happens to be. Whether you're taking a walk, working in the yard, relaxing in the living room, or heading out on a weekend adventure, Doodad simply wants to come along. His moderate energy makes him especially appealing for families looking for a dog that's active without feeling exhausting.

He'll happily join hikes, training classes, neighborhood walks, and family outings, but he also appears to have the ability to settle and simply enjoy spending time at home.

One of the things I appreciate most is that he doesn't need to be the center of attention. He's content simply being included.
