Who's It is an independent thinker.

He doesn't assume every person or activity deserves his attention simply because it's there. Instead, he gathers information, makes a decision, and then commits fully once he understands what he's being asked to do.

I actually appreciate that.

It means he's capable of entertaining himself, exploring his environment, and thinking through situations without constantly relying on people for direction. Once a relationship develops, he's happy to work alongside his family—but he likes knowing why he's doing something first.

One of the things that stood out most during the evaluation was how much he relied on his nose. Before greeting people, before chasing toys, and before interacting with new objects, he investigated with scent. That natural curiosity, combined with his confidence and toy motivation, makes him a fascinating puppy to watch.

Much of that confidence begins long before families take their puppies home. Working Potential

While I don't see Who's It as my strongest service dog prospect, I do see tremendous potential in activities that reward curiosity, independence, and problem-solving.

His strongest natural gift is his nose.

Throughout the evaluation, scent guided nearly every decision he made. That instinct, combined with his confidence and excellent toy motivation, creates a wonderful foundation for activities like Nose Work, Tracking, Barn Hunt, AKC Scent Work, retrieving games, and other sports that allow him to solve problems independently.

He's also the type of dog that simply enjoys learning.

Not because he needs constant interaction with people, but because he genuinely enjoys figuring things out.

For families who love training simply because it's fun, I think Who's It will be an incredibly rewarding partner.

What I Loved

I loved watching this puppy think.

Everything had a purpose. Everything deserved investigation. Nothing was rushed.

Some puppies immediately assume the evaluator is the most interesting thing in the room.

Who's It politely disagreed. The room deserved investigating first. Only after he'd gathered enough information did he decide the person and the toys were worth his attention.

Once that happened, he became playful, engaged, and incredibly fun to work with.

That transition told me he wasn't aloof. He was simply thoughtful.

One Thing I'd Continue Building

If Who's It were staying here, I'd spend a lot of time reinforcing engagement with people while preserving his wonderful curiosity.

I'd use toys as the primary reward because they're clearly his favorite currency.

I'd also introduce lots of scent games, problem-solving exercises, and confidence-building activities that allow him to use both his brain and his nose.

One lesson I'd begin teaching immediately is the exchange game.

Because toys are so valuable to him, I'd make sure he learns from the very beginning that giving something up always leads to another opportunity to play.

That creates trust while preventing little misunderstandings from ever developing.

Living With Who’s It

Life with Who's It is going to feel relaxed, thoughtful, and surprisingly entertaining.

He's the kind of dog who's perfectly happy carrying a favorite toy through the house, investigating something interesting in the backyard, or quietly exploring before checking back in with his family.

He enjoys people, but he doesn't require constant attention to feel secure.

That makes him an especially nice fit for busy households where people can't spend every minute interacting with their dog but still want a companion who genuinely enjoys being part of the family.

His energy level is exactly what I'd expect from a young Golden Retriever. He'll enjoy daily walks, adventures, training sessions, enrichment activities, and opportunities to use both his body and his brain.

Who’s It is an AKC Golden Retriever from our Velma & Ransom "Whatchamacallit" litter.

Like his littermates, he'll mature into the beautiful feathered golden coat and athletic build that have made Golden Retrievers one of the world's most beloved family companions.

Who’s It comes from our thoughtfully planned pairing between Velma and Ransom.

When planning this litter, we looked well beyond the parents themselves, studying generations of pedigree information, health testing, longevity, temperament, and structure.
