About Andee
Andee joined Oregon’s Legendary Goldendoodles from an outside breeding program, bringing new Golden Retriever genetics into our lines. She settled into our home remarkably quickly, confidently exploring her new surroundings and making friends with people and dogs alike.
She is an exceptionally easy dog to live with. Andee is calm, affectionate, and incredibly snuggly. She naturally prefers to be wherever her people are and makes a wonderful constant companion without requiring constant attention. If nothing is happening, she is perfectly capable of settling nearby or entertaining herself until it is time to do something together.
Andee approaches new environments with confidence and curiosity. She likes to explore, investigate, and see what is happening around her rather than waiting for reassurance before engaging. She is also wonderfully social with other dogs and integrated easily into our existing group.
Her combination of affection, confidence, sociability, lower drive, and a naturally calm off-switch is exactly what attracted us to her as an addition to our Golden Retriever breeding program.
Andee’s Role in Our Program
Andee was intentionally brought into our program to expand the genetic diversity of our Golden Retriever lines while continuing the temperament and companion qualities that are central to our breeding goals.
She contributes:

Andee gives us the opportunity to bring something new into our lines without changing the direction in which we are breeding. We continue to prioritize healthy, structurally sound dogs with stable temperaments who are enjoyable family companions while retaining the trainability and versatility we value in the Golden Retriever.
Temperament Contribution
Andee has a particularly lovely balance between wanting to be with her people and being comfortable on her own. She loves physical affection and will happily snuggle close, but companionship does not become dependence. If her people are occupied, she can settle nearby or find something to entertain herself.
Her confidence is equally apparent in the way she approaches the world. Andee transitioned easily into a completely new home, routine, and group of dogs, quickly making friends and comfortably exploring her surroundings. In unfamiliar settings, curiosity tends to draw her forward rather than hesitation holding her back.
She also brings a lower prey drive, something we particularly value for the family-oriented temperaments we are working to preserve. Andee doesn't need to chase everything that moves or turn every opportunity into a high-intensity game. She is comfortable in the water and will retrieve, but neither becomes an obsession for her. She can participate, enjoy herself, and move on.
That lower prey drive can be especially valuable when producing puppies for families with young children, cats, small dogs, and other small animals. Prey drive is only one component of compatibility, but reducing the instinctive desire to chase and pursue gives us another useful temperament trait to consider when making breeding and placement decisions.
Despite her curiosity and willingness to participate, Andee does not need constant activity. She can explore when there is something to explore, engage when invited, and then settle when the activity is over.
That balance matters to us. We want dogs capable of confidently engaging with the world while still possessing the off-switch to simply be enjoyable dogs to live with.

Performance & Titles
Training, performance sports, and earning titles are part of the lives we share with our breeding dogs throughout their careers. We don't expect every dog to excel at—or even enjoy—the same activities, so we pursue areas that complement each individual dog's natural interests and abilities.
For Andee, that means giving her opportunities to participate in different activities and allowing her preferences to help determine where we focus. She is comfortable with water and enjoys retrieving without being intensely driven by either, while her confidence, curiosity, and desire to be with her people give us plenty of other areas to explore together.
Titles aren't simply letters added to a registered name. Working with our dogs gives us opportunities to evaluate qualities that aren't visible on a pedigree or genetic test: how they learn, how they handle new environments, how they work with a handler, how they respond when something becomes difficult, and whether they can transition between activity and everyday life.
Most importantly, these are things we do with our dogs. We want our breeding dogs to have full lives beyond producing puppies, and training and competing give us another way to build that relationship while discovering what each dog genuinely enjoys.
Pedigree & Genetic Diversity
Because Andee comes from outside our existing lines, her pedigree and genetic diversity are an important part of what she brings to our program.
Her extended pedigree and Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI) are available through K9Data for families, breeders, or anyone interested in looking more deeply into the genetics behind her.
Coat & Genetic Traits
Andee does not have the heavy, dense coat typically associated with a traditional Golden Retriever show coat. Her coat is lighter and beautifully soft, with the low-shedding characteristics we are intentionally selecting for within our Golden Retriever lines.
Andee is genetically TT for low shedding. We do not use “low shedding” to mean no shedding—Golden Retrievers remain a shedding breed, and genetics are only one part of what determines an individual dog's actual coat and shedding. Instead, genetic testing gives us another tool for making intentional breeding decisions rather than selecting by appearance alone.
This is particularly important to the direction of our Golden Retriever program. We have been intentionally focusing on Goldens with lower-shedding genetics while continuing to prioritize health, structure, temperament, trainability, and the qualities that make a Golden Retriever such an exceptional companion.
These genetics are also valuable within our Goldendoodle program. Knowing the coat genetics contributed by each parent allows us to make more informed pairing decisions and better understand the coats we may produce rather than relying solely on generation labels such as F1 or F1b.
For Andee, her coat is not about creating a showier Golden Retriever. It represents a different breeding priority: a soft, lower-shedding coat paired with the temperament and functional qualities we want to carry forward.
Expanding Our Golden Retriever Lines
Adding an outside dog to an established breeding program is about much more than finding a different pedigree. New genetics only benefit the program when the individual dog also contributes qualities worth preserving.
Andee gives us that combination.
She brings outside Golden Retriever genetics alongside a temperament we genuinely enjoy living with: affectionate without being dependent, curious and confident without needing constant activity, highly social with other dogs, lower in prey drive, and naturally capable of settling.
Her K9Data pedigree and COI provide a deeper look at the genetics behind her. Her health testing gives us objective information about the individual dog. Her temperament tells us what she is like to actually live with. And the work we do with her throughout her career gives us opportunities to demonstrate and continue developing those qualities.
Andee brings something new to our lines while fitting naturally into what we have already spent years working toward: healthy, thoughtfully bred Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles with stable, family-oriented temperaments, confidence, trainability, and the ability to be wonderful companions first.
